Vivimos en una época de cambios acelerados y profundos. De alguna manera, los seres humanos estamos directamente vinculados a ellos por nuestras nuevas formas de vida, de consumo y por la multiplicidad de nuestra especie. La repercusión de todo ello se hace visible en nuestro entorno. “Materia Mutante” recupera la memoria de la chumbera como elemento integrador del paisaje almeriense, desaparecido tras la invasión de la cochinilla. Una plaga que, aunque aún se combate, no ha podido ser contenida, provocando la muerte de miles de ejemplares. La propuesta artística juega visualmente con los secaderos de pescado y los esqueletos de las chumberas cubiertos de sal: un canto al mar desde el *Jardín de Sal*, un canto a la vida y a la naturaleza.

MUTANT MATTER
We live in a time of accelerated and profound change. In some way, human beings are directly linked to these changes through our new ways of living and consuming, and through the sheer multiplicity of our species. The impact of all this becomes visible in our surroundings. “Mutant Matter” recovers the memory of the prickly pear cactus as an integrating element of the Almerían landscape, which disappeared after the invasion of the cochineal insect. A plague that, although still being fought, has not been contained, causing the death of thousands of specimens. The artistic proposal visually plays with fish-drying racks and the skeletons of prickly pear cacti covered in salt: a song to the sea from the Salt Garden, a song to life and to nature.
